Stuckart rules himself out

While reading a story in the July 23 paper regarding the mayoral race, I came across a statement by candidate Stuckart regarding an endorsement by the Police Union. Their position is to support Nadine Woodward for the Mayor’s job. Stuckart’s response to the police endorsement was: “I’ve never asked for their endorsement and I never will.”

Alrighty, then! That said more than I believe was intended. I concluded from that arrogant statement that, No. 1, Ben Stuckart is arrogant. No. 2, if Mr. Stuckart has no intention of ever getting the support of the Police Guild, it’s very doubtful the Police Guild would be happy with him as mayor. It doesn’t exactly leave a voter to believe he’s laying the groundwork for a good future relationship.

That did it for me.

Between putting rocks on the ground so the homeless couldn’t sleep, trying to create fines for trains passing through Spokane, minimal street repairs and his other various short-sighted policy attempts, this statement of his gave me reason to not vote for him, for anything.

My vote will go to Nadine Woodward. I suggest yours should, too.
