VanderSloot on presidential field: ‘Three liars and a socialist’
Big Idaho GOP donor Frank VanderSloot says he’s disillusioned with the field for president this year, which he characterized this way: “Three people are bona fide liars and one is a socialist.”
“Where we got to is pretty strange,” VanderSloot told the Idaho State Journal about presidential politics in 2016. “It’s bizarre.”
The eastern Idaho businessman, who doesn’t think much of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, said he doesn’t plan to attend this year’s national GOP convention. In 2012, he was the national finance co-chair for Republican Mitt Romney’s campaign; this year, he backed Marco Rubio before he dropped out of the race. “Our only hope is to stop Trump and have a brokered convention,” VanderSloot told the ISJ’s Michael O’Donnell. “We can certainly do better than Ted Cruz.”
O’Donnell’s full report is online here ; incidentally, it overstates VanderSloot’s age as 77; he’s 67.
