Milk Act Townhall Brings Challenge
Huckleberries has received an email from a Berry Picker that reveals some discontent in local GOP ranks re: Republican backing for
a townhall meeting scheduled in Coeur d’Alene later this month
to discuss the Raw Milk Freedom Act of 2011. Duane Rasmussen, a member of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee, apparently emailed Lorri Erickson, KCRCC secretary, asking who gave the authority for Republicans to encourage a meeting about the Raw Milk Act. Rasmussen said in his note that he can’t recall voting to “encourage” the “public to attend” such an event. Then, he asks, Was this matter presented to the Kootenai County Central Committee for approval? Was it presented to the executive committee? He goes on to ask how the announcement came about and who authorized it. Finally, Rasmussen asks: “Do you consider this sort of Town Hall Meeting good for the Republican Party?”
