Huckleberries Hears …
… That, on Monday night, 18 or so leaders of most conservative and Republican groups in Kootenai, Bonner and Boundary Counties met in a downtown Coeur d’Alene restaurant. The consensus of those gathered was that Rep. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d’Alene, and the freshmen Gang of 16’s bill (to tweak Gov. Otter’s plan) changes nothing in its unified opposition to the proposal to initiate a state healthcare exchange. The group felt that area legislators “need to know how universal the opposition to a state exchange is among Republicans in North Idaho. It is especially important that Reps. Malek, Morse and Henderson understand their constituents are overwhelming against the exchange which implements Obamacare in Idaho.” Seems as though the health exchange issue will serve as a litmus test for GOPrimary candidates in spring 2014.
Question: Are you as adamantly opposed to Gov. Otter’s health insurance exchange as ultraconservatives in Kootenai County/North Idaho?
