Sandpoint Sicks Dogs On Geese
Two dogs may be the solution to Sandpoint’s geese problem said city officials Monday. City officials hired border collies Oakie and Nicky to chase the birds away, and they have been more effective than anything else the city has tried. “They’re trained to go run them off and move them out,” said owner Randy Curless. According to city officials, the geese numbers are down 80 percent since the two dogs started their work. Sandpoint’s beach has had prolonged issues with the geese and what they leave behind. They said goose population reached 150 at one point. In the past, city officials said they have tried scaring the geese away with fireworks and ATV’s, but nothing was as successful as the dogs/ Taylor Viydo , KREM2.
