Skijoring clinic hitches nordic skiers to their dogs

Shelley Richards and Luna enjoy skijoring at Mount Spokane nordic trails, were dogs are allowed on a certain trail Sunday and Wednesday afternoons after 2 p.m. (Diana Roberts)

WINTERSPORTS – A clinic on skijoring – nordic skiing behind a dog – is scheduled for 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. next Sunday, Jan. 29, at Mount Spokane State Park sponsored by Spokane Nordic.

The sport is a hoot and great exercise for the dogs, as I found out in producing a story and photos from a previous Spokane Nordic skijoring clinic.

Participants bring ski gear and dog. Skijor gear (dog harness, tug line, and human belt) is included in the clinic fee.

Cost: $25. Sno-Park vehcile permit also required.
