The Slice

What would this look like?

This is actually my wife's idea. And I think we originally pitched it to First Night about 10 years ago.

I don't think anything came of it. But I can't say for sure, because I'm usually home watching the "Twilight Zone" marathon and falling asleep on New Year's Eve.

Anyway, here's the deal.

Step 1: Fashion an enormous world map.

Step 2: Place map on plywood.

Step 3: Have people at some well-attended civic event make a donation to some charity and then drive nails into the place where they were born or, alternatively, where they consider themselves to be "from."

OK, we would have a lot of nails in Spokane. That's fine. But beyond that, it might get interesting.
