How to know that Secretariat still ran fastest Preakness

If the winner's time is more than one minute and 53 seconds, Big Red still has the record.

Being the shortest of the Triple Crown races, it would seem like this record would be the most vulnerable of the three. We'll see.

You might recall that screw-ups with the timing of the 1973 Preakness confused the issue of Secretariat's unmatched time. But that was cleared up a few years ago.

Here's hoping they all make it home safely today.
