The Slice

Rock of ages

It has been observed many times that the music played in grocery stores has changed over the years.

Where it once was hard-core easy listening (if you know what I mean), that shopping soundtrack has evolved to include popular songs many of us would never characterize as fluffy.

As I said, this is not a new phenomenon. And time moves on. Still, it surprised me to hear Jackson Browne's "Late for the Sky" a few days ago in the canned vegetables aisle.

That is now considered a song to select asparagus by?

Good grief. I guess1974 gets further away every minute.

Or maybe it's just that the people who run stores play better music now. In any event, I'm not complaining.

Can you recall being taken by hearing a certain song in a store?
