WSU basketball player Jordan Railey suspended

From Pullman — Due to an unspecified violation of team rules, junior center Jordan Railey of the Washington State University men’s basketball has been indefinitely suspended from team activities. According to a release from the school, “The coaches have and will continue to take appropriate action and it will remain a team matter.”

The 6-foot-10 Railey sat out the 2012-13 basketball season as a redshirt after transferring from from Iowa State University in accordance with NCAA transfer rules. While he played sparingly during his two years with the Cyclones, he has always shown a penchant for defense. After leading the state of Oregon as a high school senior with 4.6 blocks per game, he finished third on the team at ISU with 20 swats as a sophomore.

The Cougars began practicing on Sept. 27 and begin their season with an exhibition game against Central Washington University. Their season officially begins when WSU hosts CSU Bakersfield at Beasley Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
