These aren’t the same Volcanoes

Much has changed since the Spokane Indians won three of five games against Salem-Keizer during a June series in Keizer. Read game story

Andrew Suarez, the Volcanoes’ starter on Thursday, began the summer at the San Francisco Giants’ Arizona Rookie League team and wasn’t with S-K when the Indians and Salem-Keizer met June 26-30 in Keizer.

“I would come in for relief,” Suarez said of his Arizona days. “I would throw one inning. I think two innings were the most I threw. When I came here, they made me a starter and they had me on a pitch count.”

“They threw a couple of guys tonight — actually three guys — but the first two guys (Suarez and Nate Santiago) were really good,” Indians manager Tim Hulett said. “They not only threw hard, but they were able to pitch at a high velocity and make good secondary pitches.”
