Congress wrote research law

Some conservative members of Congress intend to strip Planned Parenthood of the $500 million it now receives from the federal government. They are outraged that Planned Parenthood provides embryos to scientists for research. But Planned Parenthood is following a law passed by Congress that states such provisions are legal, if Planned Parenthood makes no profit and if the woman providing the fetus agrees to the donation.

Further, by law none of the $500 million that Planned Parenthood receives can be used for abortion. To me, some members of Congress are trying to impose their own religious beliefs on an agency that is obeying the law. That is reprehensible. If they do not like the law the way it is, then they should attempt to change it.

However we feel about this issue, we are all in deep trouble if we can be punished for obeying the law.
