CSD challenges teacher pay claim
Spokeswoman Laura Rumpler of the Coeur d’Alene School District sent the following response to a Career Trends by Graphiq story that claimed Coeur d’Alene salaries are worst in nation for high school teachers:
Fact Check & Tip: Get your information from a local source — it’s always better and more accurate. (That’s our opinion!) Thought you’d like to see what we sent a national online publication that inaccurately reported our average high school teacher salary …
Mr. Greer. I see that you are noted as the author of the 11/30/16 post of the “75 worst-paying cities for high school teachers” on Career Trends/Graphiq. Your post has now gotten traction with MSN and other online sources stating that the #1 worst city is Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Unfortunately, the data listed for us is not accurate. Our average salary for our high school teachers in our district, Coeur d’Alene Public Schools (SD#271) is $45,668. Granted, we would like to see that average salary higher for not only our high school teachers but for all of our educators, but it surely is a much more accurate snapshot of the average salary for our high school teachers than the inaccurate $36,470 that is now circulating around. I know not much can be done now that the information is spreading across social media and other “news” outlets but we wanted to set the record straight. Thank you.
