Inland Northwest Rail Museum

May 13-14. Saturday they will be celebrating the driving of the golden spike that joined the first transcontinental railroad across the United States connecting the Central Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads on May 10, 1869, at Promontory Summit, Utah. Every child age four and younger will get a free golden spike. On Sunday the museum will celebrate Mother’s Day by offering free admission to mothers all day and present them with a special gift of thank you. Formerly located at the Spokane County Fairgrounds for over 30 years, the Inland Empire Railway Historical Society’s train display and museum has grown to include almost 30 different rail cars and engines plus an outstanding selection of railroad memorabilia and an extensive library. Hours are Fridays-Sundays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission includes one narrow gauge train ride.
