“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” and “SYM”
Oct. 18-27. Ives’ “Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread” is a fun parody of the minimalist composer’s style and theatrical efforts, followed by “SYM,” written by North Idaho College music instructor Gerard Mathes and directed by Crystal Bain. “SYM” is short for symphony, but this symphony incorporates abstract movement and speech as it examines science, art, philosophy and the big bang. Showtime is Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
