When John and Carrie Leiberg homesteaded on the south end of Lake Pend Oreille in the mid-1880s, he was a prospector and she had an infant son to raise. Over the next two decades, his skills as a naturalist and hers as a trained physician led them through a series of adventures that outstripped their wildest dreams. Join author Jack Nisbet for a slide show that explores how their benchmark work fits into the context of the Idaho Panhandle of that time, and how their story resonates through to issues we still grapple with today.
