“Organic vs. Conventional: What Are They And Why Should We Care?”

Presented by a panel of six local experts who will respond to audience questions about the differences between the two styles of growing, the details of organic certification, and the nutritional differences between food grown conventionally and food grown using organic practices. Panelists include: Gwen Ayres, Idaho State Department of Agriculture; Lynne Carpenter-Boggs, Professor of Soil Science at WSU; Bill Newbry, CEO of PNW Farmers Cooperative; Luke Tonnemaker, local organic farmer; Erik Zakarison, local conventional farmer transitioning towards organic; and Allen Druffel, local conventional farmer.
