The 1895 Spokane County Courthouse, designed in the style of a French chateau and seen here in a December 2019 photo, stood alone on a patch of land that had been donated by Spokane pioneer David P. Jenkins. Today, it is surrounded by many buildings constructed over the last 124 years to house many county departments and functions. The 1970 Public Safety Building, seen behind the courthouse, and the 1986 County-City Jail, behind the PSB, are two of the larger structures on the site.
