HUB Sports Center keeps high hopes
The HUB Sports Center in Spokane Valley is closed, has laid off some part-time workers, and cleaning the facility as it attempts to help curtail the spread of COVID-19. The center executive director Phil Champlin said the center took a large loss in March when events were canceled.

The HUB Sports Center’s Dads and Dudes event offers sports and other activities for “fathers or uncles or grandfathers” and sons. The photo shows participants at the 2013 event in Liberty Lake. The May 9, 2020, event is still showing on the HUB schedule, pending the lifting of state Gov. Jay Inslee’s order to “Stay Home, Stay Healthy.”
