Malden baby's first Christmas
Sage Hoover and her husband, Jason, were excited when they found out she was pregnant earlier this year. At the time Sage was working as a CNA in Tekoa and the couple were living in a house they inherited from Sage's father when he died while she was in high school. They had two dogs and were excited to bring their baby girl home. Then the pandemic happened and Sage was too sick from pregnancy complications to continue working but they were making ends meet. On labor day they went to a family BBQ, Sage was 8 months pregnant. While they were gone a fire swept through the town destroying their home.

Two-month-old Clara Jean Hoover clings to her father Jason Hoover who is trying to burp her inside the fifth-wheel trailer belonging to Hoover and fiancee Sage Butler, who are staying in the KOA campground in Spokane Valley since their family home in Malden burned down on Labor Day 2020, when Sage was 8 months pregnant. The couple lost many things of sentimental value, besides the home Sage’s grandfather left to her mother. The trailer was purchased with money from a GoFundMe account and the generosity of donors has supplied them with diapers and baby wipes, but the couple is still trying to find hope for the future.
