Then and now: Spokane Valley General Hospital
Spokane Valley General Hospital accepted its first patient Feb 5, 1969. Opening was delayed a week because storms had piled up several feet of snow and it was difficult for employees to get to the new facility.

1969: Spokane Valley General Hospital was financed by private investment and opened in early 1969 on the corner of East Mission Avenue and North Vercler Road in Spokane Valley. This photo is from February 13, 1969, eight days after it accepted its first patient.

Present day: The modest, one-story original 1969 building housing Spokane Valley General Hospital has been expanded multiple times, including a major addition in 2003. The hospital started with 95 beds and has expanded to 123. The hospital offers a wide array of services, including an emergency room, obstetrics, internal medicine, acute care and most types of surgery.
