For 20 years, I have watched many Idahoans do many things not for themselves, but for the good of their families. Let COVID vaccination be one of those things: Do it for the kids.

From Pope Francis to Franklin Graham, leaders of almost every faith tradition have spoken in support of taking the safe, effective COVID-19 vaccines as a way to love and protect our neighbors. In Spokane, we have another religious reminder of what it took to face down a previous pandemic.

The lack of affordable housing in our region is a community challenge, and to solve it, we need a community solution. Here are five things we can do to help spur the creation of affordable housing and keep residents in their homes.

We could not believe our eyes when we read a recent op-ed from Idaho House GOP leadership scapegoating local government for the property tax crisis created by GOP legislators themselves. We must set the record straight. While it may be county officials mailing you the bill, don’t blame the messengers. The jaw-dropping number on that bill is not due to excessive spending by local government – it’s due to disastrous policy enacted by GOP legislators.

Last Thursday, President Biden said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was drafting a rule mandating that all businesses with 100 or more workers require their employees to either get vaccinated against the coronavirus or face mandatory weekly testing. That move would affect some 80-million workers.
