Ospreys

(Kathy Plonka)

Look up. On the east end, near the playground and ball courts, you may spot the park’s nesting pair of ospreys atop three tall poles salvaged from the old park. There’s one nest now, with the other two poles used as perches. The birds, avid fishers in the lake, remained in the park throughout the long reconstruction of McEuen. A contractor who left his truck parked below one of the poles returned to find several fish carcases on the hood of his truck.
