Summary

Medical Lake took advantage of two critical Newport turnovers to earn a 35-20 league victory at Medical Lake.

After a tight first half, Medical Lake recovered a Newport fumble on the first play from scrimmage of the second half. The Cardinals capitalized, as Jackson Tappero scored on a ten yard run. After the extra point, Newport fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Medical Lake recovered. The Cardinals again, converted the turnover into a touchdown, and the points off the two fumbles made the difference in an otherwise competitive game.

Tappero excelled on the ground, running for 202 yards on 30 carries with two touchdowns. Corey Wagner completed all five of his passing attempts for 108 yards and two touchdowns for the Cardinals.

Newport was led by quarterback Ryan Rapp who was 15-30 for 239 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. His favorite target was Jeron Konkright, who turned in 196 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
