Summary

Blake Smith scored the go-ahead goal in the 61st minute, goalkeeper Austin Wallace fended off a heavy West Valley attack, and visiting Cheney won a 2-1 Great Northern League boys soccer match on Thursday.

The winning goal came when Blake Smith took a through ball from Kelby Holland and found himself one-on-one with the keeper. It was the second goal in a four-minute span for the Blackhawks (4-2, 4-0 GNL), who also scored in the 57th minute when Oliver Smith found teammate Spencer Yeager for the tying goal.

The Eagles (2-4, 1-2 GNL) were dominated the first-half possession but could only score once, when Chris Hatten scored off an assist from Chris Lucas in the 22nd minute.
