KENNEWICK – Zach Borisch ran for four touchdowns as the Kamiakin Braves beat the Rogers Pirates 47-15 in a regional playoff football game Friday night and advance to State 3A play.
Kamiakin (8-2) pulled away in the second quarter from a Rogers team making its first playoff appearance in its 39 years in the Greater Spokane League.
After the Pirates (4-6) tied the game at 7 early in the second quarter, Kamiakin scored three TDs in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 28-7 halftime lead.
The Braves was up 41-7 before Rogers added a late touchdown.
Rogers ran the ball effectively early with Patrick Pullins and Eric McKay. After McKay rumbled for 37 yards, Pullins capped the drive with a 2-yard run that tied the game at 7.
McKay had nine first-half carries for 112 yards and Pullins added 48 yards on 12. But the Pirates struggled to convert once inside the Braves’ territory.
