Lucas Owens led Lakeside at the plate, hitting 2-for-3, including an RBI double, and the Eagles held off the Kiona-Benton Bears 7-6 to advance to the State 1A quarterfinal matchup against Hoquiam.
The score was tied at 4 going into the top of the seventh. Lakeside was handed four walks to lead off the inning and scored three times to push the Eagles' lead to 7-4. Kiona-Benton turned around to score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Nate Johnson came in to replace Dillon Clark on the mound with one out. Johnson struck out his first batter and with two Bears in scoring position, he forced a fly ball to left field for the final out.
