Summary

Hoquiam scored three runs in the bottom of the first and rode a strong pitching performance from Skyler Jump to a 3-1 win over Freeman in the State 1A baseball tournament at County Stadium in Yakima on Friday.

Hoquiam opened the scoring with a two-out two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, and capped the inning by picking up their final run of the day on a wild pitch.

Skyler Jump struck out 14 Scotties on his way to a three-hit complete-game shutout, allowing a single earned run.

McCabe Cottrell settled down after Hoquiam's three-run first and struck out nine in a complete game for Freeman, which will take on the loser Friday's second semifinal at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
