Ryan Maine scored 26 points, including a half-court shot at the buzzer in to force overtime, and Freeman (17-1, 12-0) edged Medical Lake (12-6, 8-4) 67-65 on Friday.

Dylan Oja added 20 points for Freeman, ranked No. 1 in state 1A, which sealed the Northeast A title with the win over the scrappy second-place Cardinals.

Medical Lake led by three with four seconds left in regulation. It missed the front of a 1-and-1 and after a scramble for the loose ball, Maine ended up with it at half court and hit the heave to tie it and force the extra session. In overtime, Maine sealed the win with five late free throws.

Xavier Butler led Medical Lake with 17 points, Trenten Garza had 16 points with 10 assists, Nizhole Sherman added 16 and Joey Jasmer had nine points and 13 rebounds.
