Summary

Erik Farias scored 22 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 24 seconds remaining, and St. George's rallied to knock off defending champion Northwest Christian 50-48 Thursday in the State 2B quarterfinals at the Spokane Arena.

The Dragons (19-8) trailed by 11 midway through the final period before staging a furious comeback. Farias did most of the work, as he notched eight points and three steals in the closing minutes.

The Crusaders (23-2) had a chance to tie in the waning seconds, but Ryan Ricks' effort rimmed out.

Cade Peplinski added 19 points and 13 rebounds for St. George's, which will face top-seeded Kittitas in Friday's semifinals.

Ricks led Northwest Christian with 18 points. Rolf Veenstra notched 15, including back-to-back 3-pointers that staked the defending champs their largest lead. But the Crusaders were plagued by turnovers down the stretch and couldn't hold on. NWC will play in a consolation Friday against Adna.
