Summary

Sailor Liefke scored 23 points, including the go-ahead bucket with just over one minute remaining, and Sunnyside Christian outlasted Oakesdale 51-49 Thursday in a State 2B quarterfinal at the Spokane Arena.

Alyssa Martin added 10 points for the Knights (23-3), including another bucket with a minute left. After a pair of free throws from Logan Reed, the Nighthawks (20-6) had several chances to tie or take the lead, but two missed free throws and two jump-ball calls denied them a chance to advance. Liefke added a free throw with one second left for the final margin, and Oakesdale's three-quarter-court-heave at the buzzer was short.

Sunnyside Christian won despite making just one of 12 3-point attempts and getting outrebounded 46-33.

Jacey Johnson paced the Nighthawks with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Reed scored 11.

The Knights will play Republic for a berth in the final, while Oakesdale draws Cedar Park Christian in a consolation game.
