Summary

Luke Wagenaar scored two of his three field goals in the last 1 minutes, 30 seconds of the game to lead No. 2-seeded Sunnyside Christian (25-3) over No. 6-seeded Pomeroy (21-3) in a state 1B semifinal matchup at the Spokane Arena on Saturday.

Wagenaar buried a 3-pointer with 1:29 remaining to put the Knights up 42-39, and then converted a three-point play with 55.6 seconds left to extend it to four. Pomeroy's Ryan Wolf drove to the basket, was fouled and proceeded to swish two free throws to cut the lead to two. Wagenaar then was fouled and answered with two free throws to extend the Knights' lead back to four.

Pomeroy was off the mark on two chances from 3-point range, and Chance Marsh sunk another free throw for Sunnyside Christian to seal it.

Cade Bosma led the Knights with 12 points (6 of 10 shooting) and 10 rebounds. Wagenaar added 11.

Oscar Morfin had 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Pirates.

Sunnyside Christian advances to play No. 4-seeded Lummi Nation in the championship game at 5 p.m. Pomeroy takes on No. 8-seeded Almira/Coulee-Hartline in the third-place game.
