Summary

What happened: Ninth grader Gabriella Daniel scored the winning kick and the top-seeded Scotties (16-2) defeated the visiting second-seeded Crusaders (15-3) in a 4-3 shootout for the District 6 2B/1B championship at The Hub on Saturday. Both teams will advance to state.

Rylee Russell, Freeman senior ranked number six in the country, scored the go ahead goal in the 68th minute but Kendra Stussi scored the equalizer a minute later for Northwest Christian. Abbie Strandy had 16 saves for Crusaders.

Freeman wins district title for the third year running and advances to the state tournament for the eighth consecutive year.
