Summary

The Pirates traveled to Umatilla OR for the Viking Invitational. This is was one of the tougher tournaments we have attended this year with several larger Oregon schools in attendance. The Pirates wrestled well with 5 wrestlers making it onto the podium. Senior Levi Bowen led the team with a dominant first place finish, pinning his way through every match. Pomeroy had three 2nd place finishers: Annika Winona, Kole Zimmerman, and Peyton Cannon. Annika is having a fantastic year as an 8th grader wrestling up to high school. She has medaled at every tournament with today being no exception. Kole Zimmerman has really surged in his junior year also making the podium at every tournament. Senior Peyton Cannon faced off against a returning Oregon State Champion today. Despite a strong effort, he fell to a 2nd place finish. Freshman Jackson Hutchins battled his way through the consolation bracket and dominated in his final match to earn a 3rd place metal. New to the podium this week was Byron Collier. Byron has shown some good growth through the season and wrestled well today to come away in 4th place. The team as a whole is wrestling very well and is been awesome to see the success they’re enjoying.
