What happened: McKabe Cottrell hit a walk-off solo shot in the 10th inning and struck out 13 over eight innings to lead Freeman to a 2-1 win over visiting Naches Valley in the State 1A first round on Saturday. Simon Rooney relieved Cottrell in the ninth inning and pitched two innings, allowing a single hit. Freeman advanced to play Connell in a quarterfinal game.
