Curlew raced out to a seven-run lead, but couldn't hold on in a 9-7 loss to Sunnyside Christian in the State 1B tournament at Yakima. Haleigh Gibson batted 4 for 4 and Annaliese Fanning drove in three runs for the Cougars. Curlew next faced Wishkah Valley in the consolation bracket.
