Goldenrod crab spider, photo from backyard garden. Misumena vatia feed on common insects, often consuming prey much larger than themselves. They use venom to immobilize their prey, though they are harmless to humans. They face threats due to parasites and larger insects. These spiders may be yellow or white. This ultimately depends on the flower on which they are hunting (active camouflage). Younger females especially, which may hunt on a variety of flowers such as daisies and sunflowers, have a strong tendency to adapt to the color of the surrounding flower.

Turkey vultures. By holding their wings out, turkey vultures are able to cool down efficiently in hot weather. The wings have many blood vessels close to the surface, allowing heat to dissipate more easily. Taken along the Spokane river. 8/8/25

Went looking for birds that live in our open spaces I found a few. This is a Sage Thrasher as the name implies they live in the sage brush kind of a plane looking bird except for it's eye and they sing a song that goes on and on they sit on top of the sage brush and then drop to the ground then pop back up again. Taken west of Davenport W.A. 8 2 2025.
