The Rose Bowl is coming to Texas for the first College Football Playoff championship. Pac-12-champion Oregon and Big Ten-champion Ohio State will meet in Arlington, Texas, at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on Jan. 12 to decide the national title in the first year of the new postseason system.

TCU jumps Florida St into 3rd in playoff rankings

TCU moved up to No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings, becoming the latest team to jump past undefeated Florida State. The Seminoles are fourth, still in position to reach the playoff if it can win Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship game against Georgia Tech. Alabama is No. 1 and Oregon is No. 2 for the third straight week. Ohio State is fifth and Baylor, which beat TCU earlier in the season, is sixth. Oregon faces No. 7 Arizona in the Pac-12 title game. The Wildcats’ five-spot jump to seventh sets up a possible play-in game in Santa Clara, California, on Friday night. Boise State is the highest – and only – ranked team from outside the Big Five conferences, which puts the Broncos in position to receive a bid to one of the four New Year’s Day bowls. – AP
