Shock notes: Spokane to host West best Rattlers

Depending on whom you ask, Spokane’s showdown Saturday with Arizona is a monster game, just another game, or somewhere in between. The two rivals are coming off a bye week. Spokane (8-7) went into the break in a better mood, thumping L.A. 64-46 while Arizona suffered its first loss, a 62-33 setback at San Jose.

Shock beat Kiss, clinch spot in playoffs

ANAHEIM – Spokane picked up another road win over the L.A. Kiss and this time Shock quarterback Erik Meyer was able to enjoy it to the end. The Shock dominated on both sides of the ball and thumped the Kiss 64-46 Saturday at the Honda Center. Spokane crushed L.A. 70-21, despite losing Meyer to a broken collarbone late in the first half, in early May.

Area roundup: Shock quarterback Erik Meyer voted Week 15 MVP

Spokane Shock quarterback Erik Meyer was voted AFL MVP for Week 15 of the 2014 Arena Football League season. Meyer (Eastern Washington) tossed three touchdown passes and rushed for three more in Spokane’s 70-30 victory over the San Antonio Talons on Friday. In his first start since suffering a shoulder injury on May 4, the 6-foot-2 Meyer returned to break his own single-season franchise record for rushing scores by recording his 16th of the year last week.

Infusion of hope

The Spokane Shock needed a pick-me-up. They got it with quarterback Erik Meyer’s return to the starting lineup and a visit from the struggling San Antonio Talons. Meyer accounted for six touchdowns and the Shock cruised to a 70-30 Arena Football League victory in front of an announced crowd of 8,489 Friday at the Arena.
