Two Spokane physicians (Sajid & Debra Ravasia), a husband and wife, have filed a $191 million personal bankruptcy, declaring they may owe money to 8,000 patients, clients and dozens of insurance companies.

Huckleberries: In 1970s-80s they didn’t plow in February

Before Reid Walker retired 32 years ago, the city of Coeur d'Alene didn't plow snow in February. Way back when, Reid once told this columnist, February snow was followed by warming Chinooks that melted the snow. Huckleberries print today goes back to the mid-1980s to launch today.

February precipitation breaks record

The last time Kootenai County saw this kind of precipitation in February, locals were heading to the movie theaters to see the premiere of Walt Disney’s “Pinocchio.” As of Monday at 4 p.m., the region was sitting at 6.54 inches of precipitation for February, topping a record set in 1940 of 6.49 inches.

Huckleberries: Former CdA streets chief retired with his February magic

In February 1985, retired Coeur d’Alene streets director Reid Walker was relaxing at his cabin, enjoying the heavy snowfall, and amused that his replacement had to call out the snow plows to deal with snowy city streets. During Reid’s tenure at the city, it snowed in February. But a warming chinook would follow to thaw the snow. Reid said he never called out the snow plows in February.

Bedke denies improper conversation with former committee secretary

Idaho House Speaker Scott Bedke accused a former secretary of stalking him three years ago as his wife underwent cancer treatment and then attempting to extort money from him by concocting a story the two had an affair. The Idaho Attorney General’s office referred the matter to the Idaho State Police for investigation, but no charges were filed.
