Teens Arrested In Attempted Robbery

Five 17-year-olds were arrested and charged with an attempted armed robbery at a north Spokane pizza restaurant Wednesday night. An employee of Little Caesar’s Pizza, W3327 Indian Trail, was walking to the parking lot at 11:30 p.m. after closing the restaurant.

She told police she was approached from behind and ordered to the ground. When she turned around and saw a youth pointing a handgun at her, she did what he said.

The teen then asked for her money, but she said she didn’t have any.

She then noticed three more people running through an alley and a fourth person coming toward her, police reports said.

That youth also asked for money. When she said she didn’t have any, he asked if the pizza parlor was still open and she said no.

All of the teens ran away and the restaurant employee called police.

Patrol Officer Jeff Schaal was driving on Maple and Francis when he heard the call.

He spotted a silver compact car with five passengers who fit the age description and called for back-up.

Schaal pulled the car over when a second police car arrived.

The five males were arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on one count each of attempted first-degree robbery.
