Stop Signs Altered To Help Traffic During Cda Events

From Staff Reports

City police have altered stop signs at the corner of Seventh Street and Front Avenue to accommodate downtown traffic this weekend, while Sherman Avenue is closed for a street fair.

Normally, east and westbound drivers on Front have a stop sign, and north and southbound traffic on Seventh does not. This weekend, the intersection becomes a three-way stop, with stop signs for traffic both directions on Seventh, and for westbound traffic on Front. Eastbound traffic on Front will not have to stop.

Sherman is closed from Second to Seventh streets for the street fair, as are portions of Second and Fifth.

Lakeside and Front are the closest alternate routes. With the stop sign change, traffic detouring onto Front can flow back to Sherman at Seventh, Smith said.

Free shuttle buses are running this weekend between the street fair, the Taste of the Coeur d’Alenes food fair at City Park, and the Art on the Green festival at North Idaho College.
