Noisy Construction Leads To Tantrum
Entertainer Shirley MacLaine tore up construction workers’ plans and exchanged angry words because she found her Victoria hotel too noisy.
“She was madder than a hornet,” Rick Stolle, general manager of Ocean Pointe Resort, said Saturday.
The star, who is in Victoria for a theater engagement, stayed at the hotel Wednesday and Thursday, but departed Friday, he said.
Stolle said work started at 9 a.m. Friday on a temporary radio studio on a sixth-floor terrace, but MacLaine is a night owl who sleeps during the day.
MacLaine exchanged angry words with workers and tore up their building plans, Stolle said.
At her performance at the Royal Theatre on Friday night, MacLaine publicly complained about her hotel.
Stolle said she moved to the Laurel Point Inn. Her run at the theater ends tonight.
