Thunderstorm Sparks Fires In Area

From Staff

A thunderstorm rolled through Spokane Sunday night, sparking several fires and knocking down power lines.

The largest fire was near Green Bluff, where lightning struck an electric fence and sparked three small fires in a wheat field.

Spokane County District 9 firefighters quickly controlled the fires and no houses were threatened.

A house in the W3200 block of Gordon also caught fire during the storm, but city crews quickly put the blaze out.
