Arson Suspect Booked Into Jail

A man suspected of setting nine fires in east Spokane early Tuesday was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail.

The man’s identity was not available late Tuesday.

The fires were started along east Riverside between 2:45 and 3:30 a.m., said Ken Wiedmer, a response chief for the Spokane Fire Department.

Two buildings, two cars and five fields were set ablaze between E2200 and E3000 Riverside.

No injuries were reported, and the fires were extinguished quickly, Wiedmer said.

A man was in one of the buildings when it caught on fire but he escaped unharmed, Wiedmer said.
