David Glass, CEO of the Kansas City Royals, is also CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, which markets T-shirts opposing the major league baseball strike.
“I wasn’t aware of that,” Glass glossed. “But the people in Wal-Mart are good business people and they’re opportunitstic. If they can figure out how to get sales, they’ll go get sales. And I encourage them to get sales.”
We wonder if the opportunistic people at Wal-Mart would agree to a salary cap.

In an interview with Ray Ratto of the San Francisco Examiner, Reds outfielder Kevin Mitchell raved about Barry Bonds, Matt Williams and Darryl Strawberry.

Lawrence Taylor was in Berlin recently, taping a segment for NBC Sports in which he was trying to hit a golf ball out of Maifeld, the huge grass field where Adolf Hitler oversaw about 500,000 troops.
In addition to talking about Hitler and Jesse Owens, who defied the German dictator at the 1936 Olympics, Taylor summed up his status since retiring from the New York Giants last year.
“I haven’t thought about football or training camp,” he said. “I didn’t think about it when I was there.”
