Former Spokane Indians left-hander Dennis Rasmussen, hoping to return to the major leagues - where he is 91-76 - improved his record to 9-4 by pitching Omaha to a 3-2 victory at Louisville.

Another ex-Indian, Jerald Clark, hit a two-run homer, his 13th, as the Yakult Swallows beat the Hiroshima Toyo Carp 8-0 in Tokyo.

An RBI single by Kevin Garner, who began his career at Spokane in 1987, in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Scranton-Wilkes-Barre to a 2-1 International League victory over Rochester.
