Wwp Rewards Two For Saving Energy
Incentive checks totaling $393,000 have been given to Deaconess Medical Center and the Spokane International Airport for installing energy-saving equipment, Washington Water Power Co. announced.
The checks were presented in July after the hospital and airport completed WWP’s Efficiency Partners program to install equipment that reduces the energy used for lighting, ventilation, heating and cooling systems.
Deaconess will save $70,000 annually by cutting the need for 2 million kilowatts, or enough electricity to power 150 homes, a WWP statement said. The hospital installed energy-efficient lighting and a new chilled water system for its open heart surgery operating rooms.
The airport will save $53,000 a year and reduce its energy need by 900,000 kilowatts. It installed efficient lighting and upgraded a central heating and air conditioning control.
About 200 companies have participated in the Efficiency Partners program since it was launched in 1992.
