Airline Passenger Increase Continues
Growth in passenger traffic at Spokane International Airport continued its upward spiral in July. Traffic was up 12 percent over July, 1993 and increased by 17 percent during the first seven months of 1994, compared to the same period in 1993.
Most of the passenger increases during the past year have been on regional carriers at the expense of major airlines, but that trend was reversed in July. With the entry of Southwest Airlines in the market, major airlines’ passenger traffic was up more than 30 percent over July a year ago, and off about 10 percent on regional airlines.
Cargo was up 16 percent over July, 1993, and was up 14 percent for the first seven months of the year.
At Felts Field, total operations were off 5 percent for the month and up 0.33 percent for the first seven months of the year. Freight was down 79 percent for the month, and 76 percent for the first seven months of the year.
