Scholars Awarded Grants To Ewu
The following area students have received scholarships for the 1994-95 academic year to Eastern Washington University:
Wendy Walker, a 1994 graduate of Columbia High School, Hunters, a $360 Bertha Finley Brisbois Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Donna and Robert Walker, Hunters.
Twin brothers Christopher and Matthew Rickard, 1994 graduates of Republic High School, have been selected to each receive a $310 Gale/Hungate/Williams Scholarship. They have both been accepted into Eastern’s Honors Program. They are the sons of Cathy Lindsey, Republic, and Dan Rickard, Colville.
Eric Johnson, a 1991 graduate of Central Valley, a $1,050 Benjamin Sims Mathematical Scholarship. The son of Varey Ellen and David Johnson, Spokane, he is a junior majoring in mathematics.
Sarah Dunton, a 1993 graduate of Jenkins High School, Chewelah, a $2,280 Noah Showalter Scholarship. A sophomore majoring in physical therapy, she is the daughter of Leo and Patricia Doherty Dunton, Chewelah.
Alicia McIntire, a 1992 graduate of Cheney High School, a $670 Jeremy Anderson Scholarship. The daughter of Gabriele and Allan McIntire, Cheney, she is a junior majoring in urban and regional planning.
Anita Kuhn, a junior majoring in finance/accounting, a $1,500 Farmers Insurance Group of Companies Scholarship, acknowledging outstanding business students.
Jason Conley, a 1991 graduate of Shadle Park, a $450 Tod Folsom/Burger King Scholarship, supporting a junior or senior majoring in business. He is a senior business administration major.
Jeffrey Moore, a 1986 graduate of Central Valley, a $900 Herman and Jean Swartz Biotechnology Scholarship. He is a junior biotech major.
Michael Mayerle, a 1984 graduate of Gonzaga Preparatory School, a $600 Weissenborn Geology Scholarship, established for a junior or senior majoring in geology.
Carma Knapp, a senior accounting major, a $474 James Garland Scholarship, dedicated to EWU students majoring in business. She is a member of Beta Alpha Psi business society.
Trustee’s Scholarships have been awarded to the following continuing junior and senior students at EWU:
Debra Ogden, Chattaroy, is a junior majoring in prelaw, a member of the Riverside School Board and Christian Legal Society, and a National Collegiate Scholar nominee. A 1974 graduate of Riverside High School, Chattaroy, she is the daughter of Lorraine Gilbert, Newman Lake, and Del Hayes, Elk.
Linda Church Nelson, Clarkston, a senior majoring in biochemistry, is the co-founder of SHARE (Students Helping Adults Returning to Education) at EWU and a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. A 1977 graduate of Charles Francis Adams High School, Clarkston, she is the daughter of Betty Jo Church, Clarkston, and Omer Church, Lenore, Idaho.
Jason Pegg, is a junior majoring in computer science, is in the percussion ensemble and is active in drama. A 1991 graduate of Kamiakin High School, he is the son of Brenda and Paul Stephans, Kennewick.
Leigh Anna Drake, Spokane, is a senior majoring in education, serves as a Camp Fire leader and Boy Scout leader and is a board member of the Eastern Washington Family Day Care Association. She operated a preschool for 15 years. She is a member of the Student Washington Education Association and Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. She is the daughter of Sharon Hall, Twin Falls, Idaho.
Sara Stuenkel, is a junior majoring in psychology. A 1991 graduate of University High School, she is the daughter of Judy and David Stuenkel, Spokane.
Jonathan Westbrook, is a senior majoring in finance. A 1990 graduate of Lewis and Clark, he is the son of Judy and Ira Westbrook, Spokane.
Tamara Elder, Warden, is a junior majoring in social science education. A 1977 graduate of Warden High School, she encourages non-traditional students to apply for scholarships, noting that she has received awards totaling nearly $24,000.
